Three collage workshops that drew on the Haringey Bruce Castle Museum and Archives collection and the CBS digital archive, documenting the community's long-standing struggle around the Market, with around 30 participants across three sessions.
In partnership with Wondering CIC we developed a film through participatory filmmaking, with twelve participants, who gained practical filmmaking experience working with market traders and community members, developing stories on migration, identity, community, resistance and urban change. The resulting film, Lo Que Permanece, supports market traders history and will contribute to future community plans, dissemination and funding proposals.

Beyond Gentrification: Latin American Market Tales in Seven Sisters 〰️
Market Tales is a cultural community engagement research project, that aims to preserve histories of migration, resistance, and collective organising that are central to the Latin American community in the UK. It looks at identity and collective community planning, through diverse creative workshops.
Funded through the British Academy research project Beyond Gentrification: Latin American Market Tales in London, with researcher Dr Veronica Posada Alvarez as principal investigator from the University of Derby. This project provides a timely response to narratives beyond gentrification and offers a guide for reparative urban practices that are mobilised across collaborations between stakeholders and beneficiaries. Centrally, it investigates narratives of the re-making of place, and relocation of the Latin American community in and around the Seven Sisters Market (North London), the reconstruction of a diasporic place of gathering and belonging, after decades of displacement threats, by urban developers and local authorities. This project works with creative and practice-based methodologies to conceptualise on diasporic territorial healing.
This was produced through a work package comprising four strands:
Six songwriting and music-making workshops invited participants passionate about music to create narratives of Latin American communities in London. Facilitated by singer Montañera and producer Gregorio Merchán, with fifteen participants, the workshops drew on participants' experiences of the Market and their Latin American cultural identities to shape lyrics and melodies. This process produced a finished song entitled Mercado Latino.
The work culminated in a public exhibition during the Seven Sisters Market Summer Fiesta (26–28 June) celebrating Latin American community, culture and collective action, which opened with a screening of Lo Que Permanece. We also developed a historical timeline of Latin Americans in London, which unveiled alongside a replica of La Casita (Bad Bunny’s Debi Tirar Mas Fotos concert tour stage), created by Unit38.
